View Recipe‘Pitha’ is an inherent part of the food traditions of Odisha. These are traditional sweet delicacies which may be broadly placed in the category of cakes and pancakes. Pithas are prepared and served in the Odia homes specially on the occasion of festivals such as Raja Parba, Dasahara, Manabasa Gurubar, Kumar Purnima, Prathamastami and Nua Khai.In the olden days such pithas were prepared on the conventional chullah by using the firewood or coal. Now in the modern households these are prepared on the gas stoves often with the use of ovens or micro-ovens. In the recipes presented here we have tried, as far as possible, to conform to the traditional methods.
