Review : A look at the menu card of the restaurant made us think that it was a place for non-Odia dish. Because major part of it contained multi-cuisine items such as American Corn Fry, Paneer Pakoda and Palak Paneer. The Odia cuisine formed only a small part of it, and it had some mouth watering typical Odia foods such as Chhatu Besara, Chuna Machha Besara and Mutton Besara. We asked Mr. Kuna Nanda, the promoter of the restaurant, with the presence of such nice traditional Odia items in his menu, why doesn't he confine to the Odia foods only? What's the necessity of including the non- Odia items so prominently? He politely says in a matter-of -fact tone, " Even Odia people most often want to taste multi cuisine kind of food for a change. They would say, what's the use of going to a restaurant if we get to eat the same type of food that we always get at home?"
Having said this, he emphasizes that the Odia varieties offered in his restaurant are class apart. One has to taste the special mutton curry cooked in his restaurant in the typical Odia style to know what the restaurant stands for, he insists. We also felt the authenticity of his claim as we tasted a few traditional Odia items in there. We ordered Arua rice with Dahi Baigana, Pala Chhatu Besara and Machha Besara. It made us think that, with such wonderful typical Odia delicacies available why should one go for the chinese, Mughlai and Awadhi cuisine at the restaurant.
